Liberal: Toledo, Ohio

A perfect port for the Midwest, Toledo Ohio is seated at the base of the Great Lakes chain, and this was the gateway for many trade events and industrial innovations. After the 1845 completion of the Erie Canal, Toledo grew quite quickly, and today remains a major point of Midwestern growth and expansion.

Toledo was staunchly Democratic in this past election, though it wasn’t enough to keep Ohio in the blue. This historic city may spread its influence outward for the next election, making an impact on the larger population of Ohio.
