Conservative: Helena, Montana

Helena Montana was started as a gold camp during the Montana gold rush, and it was established as a city in 1864. Thanks to the discovery of gold in the mountains surrounding the city, it grew very quickly and used its newfound assets to create a very wealthy economy.

Helena’s large conservative population helped bring in a win for the Republican party. Over 60 percent of the vote went to Donald Trump, and it’ll be interesting to watch how this area of the state and how it shapes state representation as a whole.
