Conservative: Hattiesburg, Mississippi

Founded in 1882 by William H. Hardy, the city of Hattiesburg is named after Hardy’s late wife. The city expanded due to a booming lumber industry and railroad connections that made travel and trade easier. It attracts new residents regularly due to its beautiful neighborhoods, thriving cultural community, and its central location.

Hattiesburg represented red in the 2020 elections; with nearly 65 percent of the vote going to Donald Trump, this area of Mississippi continues to lean conservative, and they are likely to continue this trend in subsequent years.
