Liberal: Cleveland, Ohio

Cleveland is the largest Ohio city nestled on the banks of Lake Erie, and it shares the maritime border with Canada. Also a port city, it was founded in the late 1700s by General Moses Cleaveland, and it grew into a major manufacturing hub for the Midwest. It continues to be a central hub of trade and communication for this area of the country to this day.

Cleveland, like many other urban communities in Ohio, leaned Democratic in this last election, but ultimately the conservatives took home the vote for Trump just weeks ago. As urban developments sprawl outward, it’ll be interesting to see how this impacts the political climate of Ohio.
