Metallica began to grow its fame in the 1980s’ underground music scene long before it hit the mainstream media, but once it did, it took off. They moved from San Francisco to LA because LA wasn’t apparently “full of big-haired posers.”

Metallica has been an active band in the thrash metal music scene, and the band has seen its fair share of both good and bad moments. Some of their lower moments include when Cliff Burton, bassist, died in a tour bus crash in 1986. Over the decades, they have won numerous awards and accolades, as well as creating an incredibly devoted fan base.
