Formed in London in 1976, The Clash is a British punk rock band that has contributed to the post-punk and new wave music movements. They were known for mixing the traditional punk rock sound of the 1970s with reggae, dub, funk, ska, and rockabilly.

While The Clash didn’t become popular in the USA until 1979, they were a smashing success once they were known. Unfortunately, the band came to an end all too soon when they decided to break up during the height of their success in 1985.
