Vocalist Jim Morrison, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger, and drummer John Densmore formed the famous rock group The Doors in 1965. What you may not know is that Morrison was a well-educated military brat who broke away from his father’s expectations to join the navy and ended up starting a band.

Moreover, The Doors embodied the rebellious spirit of a generation of people protesting young soldiers going to Vietnam. The Doors released six albums together until Morrison died from a drug overdose in 1971. Afterward, the band tried to continue on but eventually disbanded in 1973.
