A Makeshift Scarecrow

Did you know that some garden pests are sensitive to bright lights? If you have fruit bearing plants – like an apple tree or strawberry bush – that needs protecting from birds, insects, and other hungry critters, dressing your beloved garden up with some reflective aluminum foil might be the exact type of armor your plants need. Just cut out a few fun shapes and string them up like a protective barrier.

The light alone, though, may not deter particularly hungry creatures, so make sure to use all different sizes and shapes that can easily move if disturbed. The movement should be enough to scare away most uninvited guests. Soon your garden will be the talk of the animal kingdom and they’ll all be saying the same thing: “Dude, you don’t want to go in there.”
