Having trees in the yard always adds a beautiful element to any home. However, although trees are a great addition to the garden, they can also attract some creatures you might not want hanging around near your house. Mice, rabbits, and even foxes sometimes use tree bark for food or shelter, especially during the long, cold winter months.

Besides attracting the unwanted animals, their activity can also disrupt the development of the tree. One option to prevent animals from hanging out at the base of your trees is putting aluminum foil around the base. Simply tear off long pieces of foil and wrap them around the bottom of the tree. At the end of the season, you can easily remove them.
