Tom Hanks is easily the most recognizable face on screen today.  He has created a legacy in his own right with performances on Sleepless In Seattle, Castaway, A League Of Their Own, Saving Private Ryan, and Forrest Gump.  Hanks has received a number of awards and nominations for both Academy Awards and Golden Globe Awards, making him the only actor since Spencer Tracy to achieve that distinction.

Despite his jovial nature and ever-present smile, Hanks does have challenges to overcome as well; he suffers from Type 2 diabetes, and he is involved in not only management of his condition but working as an advocate to find a cure for this devastating disease. Of course, with a net worth of almost $350 million in his reserves, he has the means to care for himself and his family for generations to come.
