Liberal: Montpelier, Vermont

Known as one of the tiniest capital cities in America, the bedroom community of Montpelier, Vermont is home to nearly 8000 permanent residents, although the daytime population swells to nearly 22,000 for those who come into the city for work and recreation.  A picturesque town that houses universities, hospitals, and museums, it’s the best of urban living with a small-town feel.

Nearly the entire state of Vermont came in for Joe in the 2020 election, including the city of Montpelier. Only a small portion of the northwest corner of the state remains Republican, and it’ll be interesting to see if Democrats can use their powers of persuasion in the future to gain one hundred percent devotion to their party.
