Liberal: Los Angeles, California

Los Angeles is the largest city in California and home to several prominent businesses and institutions that favor the Democratic vote. After its incorporation in 1850, the discovery of oil brought rapid growth and industry to the area, and today it’s home to over 4 million people.

Los Angeles represented strongly in the polls this last election, with a large majority leaning Democratic. This progressive population no doubt significantly impacted California’s electoral vote as a whole, and with such a large influence over the state, it is likely that California will be favoring the blue for quite some time.
