Unlike many of the women on this list, Snyderman didn’t attend college with aspirations of becoming a broadcast journalist. Her love was of medicine, and she obtained an undergraduate degree in microbiology and a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Nebraska.

Snyderman was approached with the opportunity to serve NBC as chief medical correspondent, which she happily accepted. She began hosting an MSNBC special entitled “Dr. Nancy” beginning in 2009, bringing sound medical advice to millions of Americans.
