One of The King’s private jets sat on a runway in New Mexico for 35 years before finally being sold at auction for $430,000 to an undisclosed buyer. The plane was actually personally designed by Presley. It had gold-tone woodwork, red velvet seats and a red shag carpet. When sold, the plane didn’t even have an engine. It also needed repairs and renovations in the cockpit.

Presley also had a Convair 880 in his arsenal, since maneuvering through crowds at a public airport was too much of a hassle for the star to fly commercial. He named this other plane after his daughter, Lisa Marie. Convair jets usually seated more than 100 people, but Elvis’ customized plane only seated 28.
