#37 – Green Day

Formed in 1987, Green Day was formed as a duo but has spent most of its touring time as the trio of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tre Cool. Green Day resonated well with the late-80’s/early-90s punk scene and was a fan favorite of edgy, young teens. 

Green Day’s success was high in the 1990s, but it cooled off once the new millennium hit. However, that quickly changed in 2004 when Green Day released American Idiot. It sent them soaring back to the top of the charts and revitalized their image.
