Thin Lizzy was formed in Dublin, Ireland, in 1969 by two founding members, drummer Brian Downey and bass guitarist and lead singer, Phil Lynott after they became friends in school. Their band name was actually named after a car.

You likely know their classic song “The Boys are Back in Town,” and possibly “Waiting for an Alibi.” Sadly, good music couldn’t keep them together, and soon after the band’s breakup, Lynott died after collapsing in his home in 1986.
