Sometimes a scripted and intended kissing scene still comes as a big surprise to viewers. The perfect example of this is the final goodbye between Dr. Doug Ross (George Clooney) and nurse Carol Hathaway (Juliana Margulies) in the hit show ER. Romantic tension was high between the two characters during the course of the show.

To the dismay of many fans however, Clooney left the series, crushing the dream that his relationship with nurse Hathaway would go any further.
